How do I keep my stove glass clean
Most modern stoves have an airwash as standard where this provides an air curtain in front of the glass stopping the dirt from ever coming into glass. It's not self cleaning more of a preventative measure. If you're like me and you don't read the manual you probably didn't even know your stove had this technology. If that's the case it's worth having a quick read of the user instructions. It will revolutionise your life (that may be a bit extreme but it will make your life easier).
If you have a vent on top and on bottom to control your stove it is generally the one on top that controls the airwash, the more it's open, the cleaner your glass stays.
If you have two controls on the bottom, refer to the user manual or when you have your fire lighting open one lever and see where the activity is in the fire chamber, if its blazing from underneath its the primary airflow. If you have a curling flame from the top down, then that's the airwash.
Once this is determined, simply open the airwash completely and then close it in until the flames are almost touching the glass, if it starts to blacken you need to open it slightly again.
How to clean the glass, if you're burning only wood, you can dip a damp cloth in the wood ash to remove stubborn stains. Don't do this with any other ash as it will scratch the glass. You can also purchase glass cleaners online and in-store.
If you're planning on replacing your glass and intend on having a full HD fire get in touch with us and we can firstly supply a glass and secondly help with the location of your levers.
