The Retail Landscape Is Changing — So Are We
Over the past few years, we've all had to come to terms with the rising costs of simply existing. As a small business, we understand only too well what it takes to survive.
This month, we made the difficult decision to close our bricks-and-mortar store in Thurles. There were several reasons behind this major step, but one of the main factors was footfall — simply not enough people were walking through our doors. In fact, 90% of our customers never set foot in our store, which is a remarkable statistic.
Increased parking charges have discouraged people from taking a stroll around town while waiting to collect a child from school or a companion from an appointment. Historically, these are the very people who have supported and sustained indigenous local businesses.
At the same time, rising rates and operating costs make it increasingly difficult for independent retailers to compete with major online stores. Maintaining a presence in a town centre has become incredibly expensive.
Rather than becoming another statistic, we chose to take proactive steps to ensure the future viability of our business. We will now continue to trade exclusively through our online store.
Importantly, we will still provide all the services that have contributed to our success, including our sought-after free home visit service. We can continue to arrange appointments around your lifestyle so you can view products in the comfort and convenience of your own home.
We also continue to offer something that is becoming increasingly rare: free, honest advice tailored to your individual needs and criteria — rather than the "sell it first and make it fit later" approach often seen elsewhere.
So, how will this affect you? In short, it won't. If you've purchased from us in the past, we will continue to maintain, service, and honour all warranties and aftercare commitments as normal.
